Calling all business coaches, life coaches, and certified coaches

From the coaching desks of Marion Franklin & Nina East

If you’re like a lot of us in the coaching world, you’ve been hearing stories about business coaches and life coaches that are having a hard time in their business.

You’re probably also hearing about and seeing oodles of promotions for high-priced “business skills” workshops for coaches.

We don’t know about you, but we’ve been shocked at some of the prices people are charging.
And while business skills are certainly a prerequisite for having a successful business, they are not the most essential ones.

Why? Because you can always outsource the business skills.

But what is the one thing you absolutely cannot outsource
when you are running your own coaching business?

You guessed it - YOU – and more specifically, YOUR COACHING SKILLS.

When you’re the coach, you are the one who has to perform. And, sad but true,  no amount of outsourcing will make up for the business struggles that accompany the coach with average coaching skills, or a lack of confidence about their coaching skills.

We’ve been training, teaching, mentoring, and supervising coaches for over 30 years combined, and we can honestly say, that until you are able to help your clients in more powerful ways – help your clients achieve the right results faster – you’ll be missing the key business ingredient:

Absolute, total confidence and certainty that you are a masterful coach.

When you have absolute confidence and certainty in your ability to deliver masterful coaching and help clients accelerate their progress toward goals that actually get them what they really want, your “business skills” take on a whole new level.

The problem is, where do you find truly advanced coach training?

Obviously you’re committed and eager, and you really do want to make a difference for your clients.

In the case of ICF certified coaches, you are looking for meaningful ways to earn your CCEUs to maintain your hard-earned certification.

In the case of IAC coaches, you are looking for great ways to deepen and strengthen your overall coaching skills so you can feel even more prepared for Step 2 of certification (evaluation of live coaching).

If you’ve been coaching awhile, whether you’re already certified or not, you’ve probably already done a lot of training. We’re guessing you know the basics inside and out.

And, like us, you’ve probably been disappointed with some of the trainings you’ve attended.

We hear you.

Here’s the thing, you don’t want to waste your time on beginner level training, or unknown mentors, if it’s not really going to provide significant shifts and improvements for your clients. For coaches at this level, it’s not enough to just check off the boxes and say you’ve done it. You really want to make a huge difference for their clients – which in turn means your business will be much easier to grow – and you know that outstanding, advanced training is the key!

The problem:

  • You’ve taken plenty of beginner and intermediate coach training…and have a hard time finding advanced coach training that is truly advanced and stretches you. In other words, you don’t want to waste your time and money on training that just rehashes what you already know.
  • Most courses just aren’t advanced or targeted enough to address the pattern beneath the coaching that is getting in the way.
  • You know you are helping your clients make the changes they want, but you want to be able to do it more effectively and more quickly so that clients get better results faster – results that actually stick.
  • You not only want to keep your training cutting edge and up to date, you also need to acquire at least 12 (and up to 17) more CCEU’s for ICF credentialing (pending).
  • And unfortunately, most “mentor coaches” aren’t fluent enough in how to help you dramatically improve your coaching. They are great people, and probably excellent coaches, but simply conducting hundreds of coaching sessions is not the same as mentoring and evaluating thousands of coaching sessions.

The Solution:
Advanced Coach Training that truly IS advanced,
and includes lots of time for individual supervision and mentoring.

What is Advanced Coach Training?

Advanced coach training acknowledges the skills you’ve already learned, then builds on them so you develop an even deeper understanding of how to utilize an advanced level of coaching that will produce faster, more effective reuslts for your clients.

It goes beyond knowing what to do, to knowing how to do it at a masterful level – which means knowing what to do when, how to do it for this specific client, and how to recognize instantly whether it is working or not.

Advanced Coach Training: Insider Secrets to Coaching Mastery is a 12 week/6 session advanced course covering advanced level skills, with advanced techniques foAdvanced Coach Trainingr implementing them effectively to improve your coaching exponentially so you can help your clients eliminate what’s blocking them and create permanent changes in their lives and businesses.

What will you learn at Advanced Coach Training?

Here are just a few of the advanced skills you will be able to use gracefully and effectively after completing the Advanced Coach Training:

  • How to recognize exactly what coaching theme (pattern), strategy or defense the client is using and HOW TO COACH FOR THAT SPECIFIC PATTERN.
  • How to facilitate a permanent shift in the client’s thinking by using themes to get to the source issue.
  • How to be effectively provocative, accelerating the client’s learning and progress, without overwhelming the client or getting off target.
  • How to design observational statements that immediately deepen the client’s awareness.
  • How to instantly and accurately recognize and mitigate your own coaching bias, so you are never a part of holding the client back.
  • How to use “coaching presence” to expand the client’s own self-awareness, garnering greater, more meaningful insights that lead to permanent change.
  • How to use the context of the coaching session and the coaching relationship to shortcut the client’s learning curve so they experience faster, more meaningful results (and start singing your praises to everyone they know).
  • How and when to design the right systems and structures to ensure the client’s progress, even in spite of themselves, ensuring that the coaching “sticks” outside the coaching session.
  • How to use 2 quick, easy assessments to align your coaching with the client’s listening and learning styles, so the communication is effective, on target, and rapport-building.

So how does the training work?

In a SMALL GROUP setting (12 participants, max!), working directly with two master mentor coaches, you will  meet by phone (your regular long distances charges will apply) for two hours (4-6pm ET) every other Tuesday, starting  October 5 and ending December 14th (we’ll actually meet on both December 7th and 14th…just to shake things up a bit).

Each session will consist of curriculum based mentoring (instruction) followed by supervised skill practice with extensive feedback, discussion, and learning points.

There will also be a bonus 2-hour session at the end of the course to help you further integrate everything you’ve learned, as well as identify coaching habits that can interfere with the coaching process and effectiveness.

And, you will have the option of receiving additional private, one-on-one mentoring and supervision to hone your skills even further.

What’s different about this “advanced training” than other trainings?

You will be learning from 2 advanced mentor coaches who collectively have been training, teaching, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating coaches for over 30 years.

Small Group! There will be a maximum of 12 participants – so no chance you’ll get glossed over without your fair share of attention.

You can earn up to 17 CEU’s in Core Competencies – needed for ICF certification and renewal!

This is an accelerated program using accelerated learning techniques, so no wasted time or being bored.

This is truly an advanced class. You will be working with classmates who have coach training and coaching practice under their belt, so your “learning by observing” will be greatly enhanced – learning how different styles can be applied to the same skills to produce different effects.

Individual supervision - you will be practicing skills and receiving immediate feedback from mentors so you know that YOU are getting it!

Personalized mentoring – You can have optional monthly, individual sessions with a mentor coach to go deeper with skills, discuss your specific challenges, and get crystal clear about your application of advanced level skills.

And, of course, you will always have the opportunity to review via audio recordings.

Course Outline…

Here’s what you’ll be learning and doing during the 12-week, 6 session course…

Session 1

Themes
Every coaching conversation has an overriding theme providing clues to the source issue as well as appropriate approaches, strategies and/or solutions.  Once identified, the coach can help to facilitate a permanent shift in the client’s thinking.
A list of themes will be provided, along with referenced article explaining the concept in detail.
The themes will be discussed in detail with clear client examples and how they play out in a coaching conversation.

Session 2

Laser Coaching, Direct Communication, Metaphors
Specific laser coaching techniques will be discussed and demonstrated, with particular focus on how to be provocative without overpowering the client or rushing to a solutions.
Coaching practice/supervision will focus on managing the coaching session, potential coach bias, crafting powerful questions and observational statements, and painting the picture via powerful, appropriate metaphors.

Session 3

Processing in the Present
Learning how to loop the conversation so the client can ascertain his/her own progress in conversation.
Learning how to use coaching presence and adapt your style and methodology to ensure discussion is on-target and the “more important” shift is being made.
Coaching practice will focus on how to use the context of the coaching itself to expand partnership with the client, client’s self-awareness, and accelerate the coaching results.

Session 4

Systems and Structures
Distinctions are made between to do’s or action items, and true comprehensive, sustainable structures and systems which align with client’s values. Effective systems and structures support the desired outcome or shift, while reducing struggle.
The discussion will focus around defining the various structures and how each ‘structure’ or environment can be helpful or harmful in helping a person get what they want, as well as how our questions can reflect where clients are stuck as a pattern.
The purpose of the examples is to help coaches realize why people get stuck, where we get stuck as coaches, and how oftentimes, it’s because of a pattern.
Coaching practice will focus on identifying and using client’s values, beliefs, and predominant operating systems to co-create systems and client-appropriate timelines which support the client toward greater goals.

Session 5

Coaching Tools & Assessments
The use of valid, reliable assessment increases the coach’s self-awareness of potential biases, mis-perceptions and missed nuances. Awareness of client’s styles allows coach to quickly adapt their own style to the most effective style for the client, as well as expand the client’s self-awareness and capacity for change. Coaching becomes more clear and concise, and usefulness of new information is increased by greater ability to anchor learning.
Coaching practice will focus on how to recognize different listening/learning styles and the most effective coaching techniques for each.

*Students will take the assessments prior to this session so that they can relate to their own styles and ascertain how best to work with their clients.

Session 6

Strategies, Defenses, & Threats
Masterful coaches quickly identify client’s current ineffective strategies, defenses and perceived threats, as well as how/why they developed. This supports the client in moving away from actions that no longer support their greater goals.
We will have interactive discussion and examples of the various strategies and defenses that human beings use in order to ‘get by’ but that cannot lead to permanent change.
The coaching practice will focus on how to recognize ineffective strategies and how to coach clients appropriately.  The ultimate goal is to replace ineffective strategies with permanent changes in thinking that truly support the client’s goals.
